ArcosJet, a Dubai-based global aircraft brokerage firm, considers transparent aircraft ownerships costs an essential thing to understand before buying any business aircraft. It was stated at the panel discussion at the Corporate Jet Investor London 2022 conference on 9 Mar 2022. Educating the buyers on costs and its structure should be considered as the most effective tool for this.

As an aircraft sales broker with a global business, ArcosJet maintains relations with prospective buyers and existing owners from around the world. Quite often, the company faces the question about how much ownership really costs.

“We as an industry must do a better job of educating buyers, especially first-time buyers, on how much ownership really costs. In our practice we meet people who are completely misguided and they believe it’s possible to buy a plane, fly it, charter and make a profit. What’s more, sometimes their primary reason for buying the plane is to make money off it. As responsible people in the industry, no matter how much we want to make the sale, we should still be realistic”, Yuri Dzun, ArcosJet Director for Sales and Marketing, Europe, said.

ArcosJet believe promoting charter revenues should be more transparent.

“It would be fair if the future owner was also told about the drawbacks of charter, mainly that the plane might not be available exactly at the time they need it and that charter puts more hours on the plane, both making maintenance intervals shorter and decreasing the value of the plane on the preowned market”, Yuri Dzun added.

The company recommends to focus not on the ownership costs only, but on the benefits of business aviation itself when making a decision to purchase an aircraft.

“We are here to explain to new buyers they are paying money to: have your own plane, have full security and your own crew, fly on your own schedule, reach airports you want with people you invite. A buyer should be comfortable with spending money to make his travel faster, safer, comfortable and efficient”, Mr. Dzun also said.
